I pretend I can run and Christmas cookies

For the past month or so I have been working on another drawing. I didn't really have time to sit down and draw it start to finish so I did a little whenever I had time. I like to take picutres periodically to see my progress.

Days in the Life...

Tuesday morning I had Kate to myself for a long time because everyone else slept. She and I had breakfast and then went outside to watch the sunrise. Yup, she still comes early.

The others started stirring around 8:00 am and Kate, Ava, and I began working on Christmas cookies while listening to Christmas music.

Making cookies with Kate was really fun! She mostly wanted to be held (by me alone), but was okay to sit on the counter some too.

That would be butter down her shirt.
(She played with it too, though not down her shirt. That was mostly for the picture.)

Mia helped a little too and Gabe...was around.

A rare moment when I could scoop cookie dough with two hands.

Cream cheese cookies ready to bake.

Kate played in the living room some.
The Christmas music coming through the Bose was intriguing.

This was four batches later...

Then we moved on to Butterfingers.

Of course we had to take a break to feed Kate and she went down for a nap a little while later. At that point everything was ready to be cleaned up and put away. I think the three of us probably made around 300 cookies in a little under four hours. By that time I was baked out.

Kate took a great nap! I was so excited! Then she ate her lunch and some of mine. I think she grew, she seemed heavier to me this week. And she is communicating so well! Not talking, but she has her own words and she understands a lot of my questions, like about food, and napping, and blocks, etc. She even, in her own way, asked for a second nap in the afternoon!

Mom was pretty tired and so stayed in bed a good portion of the morning and early afternoon. Dad had a few meetings.

After lunch all the kids (and one adult, and Kate) cleaned the downstairs and prepared everything for small group that night. Then we had rest time.

Kate didn't actually sleep for her second nap (I don't think), but she was very pleasant for a long time in bed. Then I got her up to play in my room.

Kate took her first steps for me! I texted her mom right away really excited but hoping it wasn't really her first time since that would mean that she'd missed it, but that was her first time! I got Mom to see if we could get Kate to do it again and video it, but she was done. (And hungry.)

So I fed her and everyone came to play with her until she had to leave and I had to get myself ready for group.

Baby Tips:

-If you have to climb on the counter to get something out of the cabinet, put the baby down.

-If you are going to let your baby crawl around in the kitchen, make sure there is nothing on the floor that you would be upset or worried if they ate.

Small group was very special. It was our last one for the year and our time to celebrate Christmas. We also had a few new people join us. For food everyone brought appetizers and finger foods. (Not food made with fingers...) And I actually got to sit at the adult table finally!

Despite the fact that it is dark the entire time, the kids all still play outside, and barely stop even to eat. They wouldn't miss the food, though, because they are mostly little boys and the food is always very yummy.

After dinner some of us went next door to carol for Nana and Grandfather. Someone had suggested we go around our neighborhood, but the driveways are a little too long and we have a lot of kids...

Our time of sharing was very sweet. Mom and Dad started it by asking everyone if they are a maximizer or a satisficer decision maker.

A maximizer typically likes to research things a lot, look at something from every angle, weigh all the pros and cons, and make the very best decision.

A satisficer usually looks to make a decision relatively quickly, finding the first thing that meets most of the necessary criteria and going with that.

For our group, all the men are maximizers or lean more towards that than they do towards being a satisficer and most of the ladies possess more satisficer qualities.

I couldn't deicide which one I was, because for some things (like eating at Babe's, or going to Maui, or taking any opportunity to care for a baby, etc) I can quickly decide 'yes.' But for other things (like buying a car, or moving to Hawaii to be a nanny, or where I should eat breakfast on my birthday, etc) I take a long time to decide. Since I was looking at all the options and trying to make the "right" decision I concluded that I must be a maximizer.

Once everyone had shared their thoughts on that fun topic, we moved on to sharing praises and prayer requests. Several in the group were in physical pain and at the end we all gathered around to pray over each other, first for physical things and then moving to the other requests.

We didn't finish until almost 10:00 pm, but it was so incredibly special. I know, I probably sound like a broken record, I feel like I say the same thing after every small group, but it's true!

Wednesday morning Ava and I were to go babysit for Nana's Bible study, but Ava wasn't feeling great, so Gabe went with me. We ended up just having two little girls and two babies, so Gabe was a bit bored. I enjoyed a more restful babysitting job and of course the time with the babies.

We got home in time to have lunch and then I left for the afternoon to go finish my Christmas shopping.

I learned from three very reliable sources that being an adult has benefits like, if I want a cookie, I can have a cookie. Aside from that, being an adult is hard and I don't even know half of it I'm sure.

That night we all watched "Christmas Hope." It was really good, but kind of sad...

Thursday morning Mom and Grandfather took us to go ice shake skate at the Galleria in Dallas. There was almost no one there for a majority of the hour and a half or so that our ankles held out. Around noon a couple school groups arrived, though, so it filled up fast.

Last year Mia found ice skating very difficult. She stayed on the side by herself and didn't want any help. Every time I asked if she was having fun she said "no" but she didn't want to get off, she wanted to "conquer" it. This year, by the end, she was out in the middle and the whole time she had a blast.

Gabe was very adventurous and was in the middle the moment his skates hit the ice. He fell pretty much every time I turned around, though.

Christian, Ava, and I are the confident skaters in our family. Chloe admittedly has balance issues, but still enjoys it.

I'd forgotten what good exercise ice skating is!

Mom and Grandfather drank coffee and watched us. Then we got lunch at "Five Guys." There was no Chick-fil-a.

At home everyone had rest time and Mom and I looked at my high school transcript. As we'd suspected, I have all but two of the credits I need to graduate in May! Then we looked at Chloe's. There was a possibility she might graduate when I do, but she still needs too many credits, more than is realistic to expect that she would complete in the next few months. *Sad face*

Dad enjoyed having a quiet house during the time that we were gone and had left for a meeting before we got back. We were all home for dinner.

Chloe and the littles watched "Frozen" after dinner and the rest of us watched "Valkyrie."

Friday morning Dad got to take Chloe and me to see the little house in Ponder that Mom and Dad are purchasing as a family project for all of us to fix up and rent. I love it! I think it's absolutely adorable and it'll be fun to work on it and make it even more cute.

It was a pretty quiet day aside from that.

I had to purchase running shoes the day before so I can learn to play soccer in January (our new friend from church is planning to teach us). They had to be broken in at some point so I decided to go pretend I can run.

It was nice and sunny and I did run plenty so I wasn't cold. It was a good workout too. I wish I really was a runner. I don't think I hurt myself this time, so hopefully I can do it again.

The littles did a 75 item challenge (went through all their stuff to see how many things they could get rid of) in the afternoon to earn hot chocolate and a cookie.

During dinner we watched a house show, "Flip and Move," and then after clean-up we got hot chocolate and cookies and watched "Here Comes the Boom." Boxing, hmm, not my thing. The movie was pretty funny though.

Saturday was Christmas celebration number one with Nana and Grandfather at their house. We about drove the littles crazy by sitting down to visit before exchanging gifts. They really did wait very patiently although they were visibly vibrating.

We took turns opening gifts, going from youngest to oldest, one gift at a time.

These are some very excited kiddos.

Ava with her new origami paper.

Amelia and her new "Amelia Bedelia" book.

Mom with her "old person socks."
(They have sticky stuff on the bottom so you don't slip.)

Enjoying their gifts.

Nana had made us all lunch and after that we went back home to rest and get ready for church.

I don't typically love it when the sun is setting everyday at 5:30, but the plus side to that right now is that our drives to church are filled with stunning sunset displays.

We got there plenty early so that Chloe and I could be a part of the secret santa gift exchange with the other teen girls in our church. (There are about seven.) We also had a little time of sharing and prayer before the service started.

This was our church's Christmas service as next week will be the day after Christmas and many will be out of town. Afterwards there were cookies and other desserts to enjoy while people visited.

We hadn't necessarily been planning to go eat at Rosa's, but we were soon convinced otherwise and very much enjoyed additional fellowship and getting to know some visitors better.

Sunday after brunch Mom headed out for a girls' overnight with three other ladies in our church.

Dad, Chloe, Christian, and Gabe left soon after Mom did to brave Costco and Walmart as some needed to finish Christmas shopping and we were in need of something kind of important, namely- food for the next ten days or so... They were gone for almost three hours.

Ava and Mia enjoyed playing together and we all three had rest time.

When the others returned we did round two of Christmas cookie baking. My estimate would be about 400-500 cookies in 4 ish hours, including more cream cheese cookies and butterfingers, as well as pecan sandies, chocolate covered pretzels, and oatmeal craisin white chocolate chip and chocolate chip cookies (all four of those things in one cookie).

Here is a blurry picture of some of them.

After everything was cleaned up and put away we all watched "Little Rascals" and didn't get to bed until after 11:00 pm.

That Moment When...

You still have to climb on the counter to get stuff out of the cabinet.

Mia asks Mom if girls can be boxers.

The Herd: Quoted

"If you help us with the item challenge you can have hot chocolate and a cookie." -Gabe
"Not this time...I can have those things anyways." -Me
"What? Why?" -Gabe
"Because I'm an adult and I take care of my things so I don't have anything I need to get rid of." -Me

"Ahh, I broke my arm." -Gabe not very dramatically.
"Move it." -Mia
"No, I broke it." -Gabe with minimal moaning.
"Gabe, it's not deformed or anything. It's not broken." -Ava

"Mom gets a gift? Did she buy it for herself?" -Me
"Yes." -Mom

"Oh I'd forgotten about these!" -Mom opening another gift she'd picked out for herself.

"I want to see! It's for all of us-es." -Mia

"Just making sure that was all." -Gabe checking a gift bag.

Hubba Hubba

Days in the Life

Thursday Mom went shopping for food and all the other kids went over to Aunt Cendei's farm to work. Dad and I were excited to have a quiet house all to ourselves so we could focus on work. We decided to turn the music way up. The windows were open too!

I put this together for my room in the late afternoon.

When the kids got back they all showered and we got ready to leave to go see the Gateway Church "Truthical" performance with Aunt Cendei. Mom had worn herself out and opted to stay home. She did not turn the music way up.

Before the show at 7:00, we got dinner from Panda Express. We try something besides Chick-fil-a every so often.

I did NOT eat all of that.

My fortune...

Gramma and Grandpa met us at the church and had saved us amazing seats. The show was very well done, a little different from last year, but still really good. Everyone enjoyed it immensely.

Friday morning Mom and Dad headed out at 6:00 for their weekend away in honor of their wedding anniversary. Nana and Grandfather took care of us while they were gone.

In the morning everyone worked on school and chores, then after lunch we drove to the Gaylord Hotel and walked around to see all the Christmas displays.

This gingerbread house was impressive.

See all the pretty Christmas lights?!

After walking around for about an hour, we got a table (and chairs) and enjoyed scones and hot chocolate.

The Christmas tree was really pretty!

She and Gabe walked around and around and around that thing...

My favorite color

My projects while in the car

That night we ate stew prepared by Nana and Christian using some meat from the deer Christian shot last hunting season.

I taught the littles how to play the board game "Clue" and beat them all. twice., then the others all watched "The Ultimate Gift" while I enjoyed some valuable alone time. *Wink*

Saturday morning everyone slept in a long time (I didn't hear anyone until after 9:00). We gathered to hear the plan for the day at breakfast and I ended up being left at home alone while the others went to do some shopping and go to the park and the library.

The times when I get the house to myself are rare and special. I love people and I love my family, but I occasionally like to be completely on my own.

While they were away I tidied up the house, enjoyed my coffee and quiet time, played the piano, ironed a bunch of shirts for Dad (ironing is something I really enjoy), exercised, and took my shower. Praise music may have been on the loud side for part of the time...just thought I'd mention that possibility...

She constructed an "American Ninja Warrior" obstacle course.

Once everyone returned they had some quiet time and then everyone cycled through the showers and got ready to leave for church.

Nana and Grandfather took us to our church and then we all went to eat at Rosa's with church people afterwards.

Sunday Nana and Grandfather went to their church while we slept and then prepared them brunch. It was all ready for them when they arrived and we were live-streaming "Truthical."

In the afternoon we rested, watched football, and prepared for Mom and Dad to come home. (Mia learned to ride a bike!)

When I get food out for dinner...
Surely that will be plenty.

Mom and Dad arrived home in time for dinner and a movie, "The Santa Clause 2."

Monday morning Ava got her braces on. *Insert the pictures I could not get to upload, sorry...*

In the afternoon I had another painful helpful massage.

Dad was gone all day meeting with clients that had found him online, flew here to meet him (they live out of state), and are having him design the house they will build in a totally different state from where they live currently!

Mom wrapped Christmas gifts.

In the evening I babysat for the small group.

That moment when...

The fire alarm goes off in the middle of the night at the hotel Mom and Dad are staying at. (It was a false alarm.)

You find out what "Hubba Hubba" actually means...

The Herd: Quoted

"Can we sleep in tomorrow?" -Ava
"What do you think you've been doing the past few weeks?" -Dad
"Oh yeah..." -Ava

"Do you want us to get back-sided?" -Gabe while in the car (he mean't rear-ended)

"I'm going to run to the bathroom." -Me
"Please walk." -Mom joking.

I need a bowl of coffee

Days in the Life...

Thursday morning I left dark and early to go meet a friend for a sunrise photoshoot in a random field we found that didn't have any signs, gates, or fences (aka, we probably were okay to be there).

The light was stunning and everything was covered in frost including the grass which was still very green. It'd been awhile since I'd seen a sunrise (because I've been asleep most mornings at that time the past few weeks...).

Aside from it being very cold my fingers and toes were frozen for 24 hours after we finished, but then I've always had cold hands, the shoot was fun for both of us and I think she got some pretty amazing pictures. I loved being able to enjoy the sunrise and marvel at the beauty God created for us.

Here are a few

I got home in time to tell Mom and Ava goodbye. Ava spent the weekend with Aunt Lauren and Uncle Phil for her birthday gift from them and Mom was going shopping with Nana for Nana's birthday gift from her.

The rest of us had work and school to do all day.

If you remember, my shoulder was hurting at the tournament a few weeks ago. I linked it to stress (which is accurate) and hoped that it would go away soon. It hasn't really. The pain has not ever been as bad as it was that day, but off and on my neck, back, and shoulders have been sore.

Pretty much as soon as I sat down to do my CLEP test studying for the day, they began hurting so I took some pain killer. Of course it was when I finished two-ish hours later that I got full relief. Maybe it's just school stuff... That's when I started thinking a massage would be a good idea.

Mom was still gone late in the afternoon so Chloe and I were recruited to make dinner. (That means it was my job to come up with the plan first.) After scouring the food supply, I went to Dad with a sort of okay plan and the idea of "Babe's" in the back but more like front of my mind.

He proposed Babe's before I had to say anything.

So we met Mom, Nana, and our new friend from church at Babe's with Grandfather. It was a fun evening! The food was good, too. In case y'all were wondering, "white soup" is gravy (if you are eating at Babe's).

Friday Dad had appointments to go to and Christian had school in the morning and work at the neighbor's in the afternoon. The rest of us were thinking we didn't feel like doing a full school day and that Christmas shopping in the afternoon sounded like it would be fun.

Mom had a hair appointment in the morning and then she and Mia and Gabe left to shop.

Chloe and I went to go see the new movie "Pan" (she loved it, I thought it was okay) and to shop a little. That was the first time I ever went to Aéropostale.

We all arrived back home in time to eat together and then watch "Mall Cop."

Saturday we had friends coming at 10:00 and all rolled out of bed in time to be dressed by the time they arrived. I had yet to eat breakfast, though.

After about a *pauses to think about how long* too long break from play practicing, we finally got back to it. I promise we will do this play some day. It was not my plan to draw it out quite this long...

Miracle Max

Fire Swamp

Mom and Dad took Mia and Gabe to look at a little house in Ponder while we practiced. The report was fun to hear, and because Dad is an architect he was able to sit down and draw us the floor plan for visual aid. I'm so amazed by my Dad's abilities.

We had stuff around the house to work on in the afternoon before we got ready and left for church.

The sunset was stunning during our drive. I decided a couple of months ago that I couldn't pick one favorite color, so my answer to that question is now "sunset." Heavenly displays such as that one are definitely my favorite.

At church I had volunteered to be the greeter. Mia was being baptized that night so all our local family came to join us for the service. (Ava was delivered back to us as well.) I made sure my uncle especially knew that I did not greet everyone with a big hug like I gave all of them. He was relieved.

During the service I offered to help one of the young moms with her little girls who are two and a half years old and one month old. I'm pretty sure I was the most blessed out of the two of us. It was hard, but I did share the baby with others after the service.

Afterwards most everyone stuck around to enjoy the cookies that everyone had brought to share in honor of the two little girls who'd been baptized. An unnamed adult covered for Mia so she could eat as many cookies as she wanted... Mom found out and kindly cut her off at 4.

Sunday morning we enjoyed a late brunch and some rest time before heading to a church fellowship at the Peiser's home (the family with all the little boys that I've babysat for).

We ate dinner and the kids played outside in the backyard while the rest of us played "Last Word" and "Imagine If." Mom did really good in both games. Dad and I are good sports.

A rare moment when I was not the one holding the baby.

Ava had spent the day with a friend in honor of the friend's birthday so we picked her up on the way home.

Monday was pretty quiet. Everyone did normal stuff.

Mom and I had massages in the afternoon. That was painful. But it helped some. Now I'm just sore because I had a massage. Unfortunately, even after an hour of working on me, the masseuse said she had not had near enough time to work out all the tension. Mom is doing much better, though!

That night I had small group to babysit for. I love time with little children.

Tuesday morning Kate came! I'm not doing this on purpose, but again, I got to practice caring for a baby with not enough sleep. She took a really good nap this time, though. Praise the Lord!

Ava is a wonderful helper.

Too much cuteness.

In the afternoon I had to get ready for our Speech and Debate Club's Christmas party in Dallas, as well as pack an overnight bag. Kate was a good helper...

Her pajamas are so adorable!

I was sad to have to leave Kate with Mom to head out with Chloe and Christian. Walking away from her when she was crying for me about ripped my heart out.

Baby tips:

-Once your baby is old enough to sit up on their own without falling over you can sit them on the counter in front of you while you get food or do things that require two hands. Just watch them. Very. Closely. And don't walk away.

-If you are needing to get ready for an event (so like put makeup on and curl your hair) get an easy to eat baby snack like cheerios or something and let your child eat by your feet. Talk to them to keep them interested and in one general spot.

Chloe, Christian, and I left mid-afternoon, made a quick stop for gas (so that Christian could do it for me), and raced through Walmart to pick up salad makings. Then my GPS decided to not work, at all, so we ended up having to call our ride and meet them at Tom Thumb instead of their house. (The party was in Dallas and I did not want to drive there.)

We were supposed to be at the house early to help set up tables and such, but by the time we arrived (although we were still early) everything was already done.

All three of us had a great time. A majority of the time we visited with friends either inside or outside. Christian played football in the backyard with some other boys after dinner.

The party technically ended at 9:00 but some people didn't leave. Most of us that remained decided to go look at Christmas lights around Highland Park.

This tree was impressive.

We left sometime after 10:30, I believe, and went back to get our car. Then we followed our friends to the house we were to sleep at. (It would not have been wise for me to drive us home an hour away so late at night with not enough sleep.)

Us girls stayed up visiting with our friend and her parents until 1:00 am. Christian and the boys were up until 3:30.

Wednesday morning we got up around 7:30 so we could leave right after breakfast and get Chloe to work by 10:00.

It was almost 10:30 by the time Christian and I got home. We caught up with Mom and Dad about our time. They had gone to work at "Santa Cops" Tuesday evening. (They wrapped presents that the police officers could then deliver to families.)

In the afternoon I went to get Chloe from work and Mom had a bunch of homeschooling moms over so they could ask her questions and be encouraged gleaning from her years of experience. She is such a blessing to so many people.

Aunt Cendei had a huge fire (we could see the smoke from our house 5 miles away) in one of her pastures for a couple of hours in the afternoon. Praise the Lord that 8 firetrucks later it was put out and did not hit the gas wells on her property. We invited her to come for dinner that night and watched "The Santa Clause."

I've been Pondering

This week past I have been focusing on Proverbs 3:5-6. Stress is an extreme part of my life right now, but I'm determined to trust in the Lord, acknowledge Him in all my ways, and walk as He leads me.

My favorite part of the day.

I can honestly say it is true. I couldn't always. I used to wish I could, but I wasn't there yet. I enjoyed reading my Bible and praying and have been doing so since before I can remember, but I did it more out of habit for the most part. It certainly wasn't truly my favorite.

I can not pinpoint exactly when that changed. There is no specific quiet time or prayer session that changed my entire point of view.

Rather, God has been working in my heart, and as I drew near to Him, purposing to seek Him, He was faithful to reveal Himself to me more and more. And the more I learned about Him, the more I began to enjoy and delight in His presence.

I share this not to boast or point to myself, but to be an encouragement. I'm not saying that every time I sit down to read God's Word I find new wonderful things that make me want to run and dance and sing. (I actually do a lot of crying.) And I'm not saying that every time you read the Bible you will be excited or interested. But what I can say is that God is faithful.

When you draw near to Him and seek His face, He will draw near to you and reveal Himself to you. The more I know God and experience the work of His hands in my life, the more I love Him, and the more I grow to cherish my time spent purposefully resting in the presence of my Savior.

(P.S. I know my mug of coffee looks more like a bowl of coffee, but I promise it's not that large, and it was only half filled, lest y'all be concerned that I'm not sleeping enough and thus need that much coffee. *wink*)

That Moment When...

You're really hungry until you get to the restaurant and finally have food in front of you.

Chloe accidentally bakes 108 cookies.

Gabe comes in the room with a 4 inch bleeding cut across his neck.

Mia is excited about a new math book.

You drink something that is too hot and live the next 24 hours with a sandpaper tongue.

You realize people in the city actually lock their doors so you can't just walk in and call out "knock knock."

The Herd: Quoted

"That's Christian's Christmas list. It takes awhile to read so just go ahead and set it aside." -Mom to Dad.

"Thanks for calling me an adult tonight." -Me smiling.
"I'm trying, I really am!" -Mom

"How come you get to sleep in?!" -Chloe
"Because I accidentally turned off my alarm. In my sleep. Twice." -Me

"High-five for the blonde moments!" -Me to Dad after he had one.

"I forgot to tell Kate no naps in the car on Tuesdays." -Me

"As soon as you left she melted into a puddle." -Ava telling me that Kate cried for me.

"I should probably turn my lights on..." -Me as I pull on to the road at 11:00 pm and notice how dark it is.

"That was so fun! I did a great job extroverting!" -Chloe after the party.

"If I could, I'd marry God. Would you? Wait, no, I wouldn't because I'm not perfect." -Mia to Mom during school time.

I'm in love

Monday-

I finally had Kate again. She grew! (But not very much. *wink*) She arrived close to 6:00 am as usual and I was sleepy after not sleeping well at all. But I was very excited to have her all to myself for a few hours before everyone else who was excited to see her got up.

She and I went to the living room for me to have my Bible time while she hopefully played on the floor quietly. She preferred to try grabbing the Christmas decorations and crying for me to hold her.

The few minutes she was happy with the blocks.

The others started coming downstairs once the sun was up and Kate thoroughly enjoyed the attention from her fan club.

Ava was happy to take charge of Kate while I exercised quick and took a shower. She is a great helper!

I'd had 4 hours of sleep,

but she preferred eating to taking much of either of her naps

so I could...do my school and daydream about sleep...

How can I not love her?

Yeah, I caught the yawn, little girl.

Monday was Mom and Dad's 19th wedding anniversary so us kids demanded strongly suggested made it possible for them to go on a date.

Tuesday-

We are still sleeping in more than usual. Getting up when it is so cold outside (not to mention dark) is less than appealing. The schedule in general, has been more relaxed, though school is being accomplished.

Chloe asked me if we could do something in the afternoon. So we went to Chick-fil-a for lunch and then to Starbucks to do school. On the way we got gas. I finally figured out how the gas pump handle holder thingy works!

I have a new name.
I even spelled it for her after telling her my name...

We had small group at our house that night. The report was it was very lively and really good. I missed it for a babysitting job I could not pass up.

She was only ten days old!

Best CLEP test studying buddy EVER!

I'm in love.

I had her for four hours, and I didn't put her down at all. It was my own personal heaven.

Wednesday-

Was the most quiet day so far. We were all mostly home. Chloe worked some midday (as well as on Monday) and Mom had an appointment and Dad and Christian went to get haircuts quick.

I've been Pondering

This week and every week, as I live my life, I want to rest in God's love, trust in His sovereignty, and be filled with His Spirit so that that Spirit might pour out of me onto everyone I come in contact with.

Today I am amazed by the timing of God.

I love the quote that says, "God is always doing 10,000 things in your life and you may be aware of 3 of them."

He is always at work in each of our lives whether we realize it or not. The times we get to look back and see His hand moving are gifts indeed. Be attentive and consider His movement as you live your days. What has He done for you today that you can praise Him for?

That Moment When...

You walk straight into the Christmas tree.

The Herd: Quoted

"I finally took my Thanksgiving afternoon nap today." -Dad several days after the holiday.

"No shoes?!" -Chloe getting in the car with me when I picked her up from work.
"Of course not!" -Me indicating that I would not wear shoes.

"I wasn't listening because I could tell you were talking about something fun and I didn't want to know what I was missing out on." -Mia

"I just want you to know that Nana and Grandfather offered *pauses dramatically* me candy...and I said yes." -Mia at the dinner table.

"She knows who composed Swan Lake but not the difference between a paper bag and a plastic bag." -Mom talking about Mia.
"Well, she is my sister and my mini-me." -Me

Cinnamon Rolls!

Several weeks ago, Mom and the littles began periodically making cinnamon rolls to sell for the purpose of raising money. The money is to pay for a child with a cleft-lip to have the necessary surgery to repair it. This is a life-changing event for a child and Mom and the littles decided that baking was something they could invest their time in, to help someone else.

The ministry, Samaritan's Purse, is the distributor of the funds. The surgery costs $250.

They have baked cinnamon rolls three times and have received more orders than they could fill.

The dough all risen and ready to roll

Folks are begging Mom to keep baking especially the week of Christmas. Pans are $10 each. Donations gladly accepted if you live too far away to come pick up cinnamon rolls.
